About Me

My photo
Eric
I live on Grand Manan Island in the Bay of Fundy. I’ve spent more than four decades working on, under and around the sea – as an historian, a nautical archaeologist and a commercial diver. Throughout that time, I’ve worked to capture on canvas the sea, the rugged coastlines, lighthouses and the sailing ships that are part of our nautical heritage. With a degree in Physics, I’m especially interested in understanding the nature of light and color, the nature of waves and the interplay of light and water. Seascapes are an interpretation of how light acts on and through water, and so I put special emphasis on this. Behind each painting is a desire to bring the ever-changing sea to life for those who are fascinated by the its power and its beauty.
